of foreskin which can bleed after sex<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Treatments for Tight Foreskin<\/p><ul><li>Steroid creams (Dermovate for short periods)<\/li><li>If above fails or pathological phimosis<\/li><li>Consider surgery (Frenuloplasty or circumcision)<span style=\"font-style: inherit; color: var(--ast-global-color-3); background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frenuloplasty<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simple operation that can be performed under local or general anaesthetic<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A horizontal incision across the frenulum which is closed vertically<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Risks of surgery:<span style=\"font-style: inherit; color: var(--ast-global-color-3); background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">Bleeding<\/span><\/p><ul><li>Infection<\/li><li>Altered sensation (rarely numbness or increased sensitivity)<\/li><li>Scar formation<\/li><li>Failure to resolve the tight foreskin requiring circumcision<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Circumcision (removal of foreskin)<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can be performed under local or general anaesthetic.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Day case surgery which takes 30-45 minutes.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abnormal foreskin is removed.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The wound on the penis is closed with absorbable further revision surgery<\/li><li>Rarely urethral injury<\/li><li>Removing too much skin resulting in skin tightness during an erection<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Post circumcision care:<\/p><ul><li>Most men take 1 week off work after surgery<\/li><li>Can shower as normal but avoid soaking in the bath<\/li><li>After drying apply Vaseline to the head of the penis and wound unless given an antibiotic cream instead<\/li><li>Avoid sex for 4-6 weeks (until wounds healed)<\/li><li>Expect the penis to be swollen and bruised for at least a
